In January 2011, God spoke to Steven D. Byrd, calling him to shepherd a ministry that would demonstrate God’s power in the earth. He wanted to empower people to reach their God-given potential and fulfill their destiny in Him.
February 26, 2011
On February 26, 2011, Mr. Byrd gathered together a group of nine individuals with whom he had developed a special relationship. He met at Panera Bread, Downtown Atlanta, to discuss the birthing of this new ministry, which would be called Fresh Wind Christian Church.
June 2011
By June 2011, the group hosted its first Ministry Awareness event to introduce Fresh Wind Christian Church to the Metropolitan Atlanta community with 28 guests. Holding fast to the promise and call of God, Pastor Byrd and the hand-full of members continued to meet at various locations throughout the Metropolitan area to prepare for the next move of God.
June 25, 2012
God did move and blessed Fresh Wind Christian Church to enter into a lease agreement with Turner Monumental AME Church, on June 25, 2012.
August 5, 2012
This set the stage for scheduling the Inaugural Worship Service on August 5, 2012, at 1 pm. This service was held in the main sanctuary of Turner Monumental Church.
To climax that auspicious occasion, Pastor Steven Byrd preached a powerful message of restoration entitled, ‘I May Have an Issue. But, I Was Invited To The Table, By The King’ (2 Samuel 9:1-11.) Upon the conclusion of that soul-stirring, hope-filled sermon, 19 people responded to the invitation and joined Fresh Wind Christian Church.
Ministry Exploits
Over the next seven years, Pastor Byrd and the Fresh Wind Congregation set out to do great ministry exploits.
Prayer and Praise
This past May, under the unction of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Byrd called for an ‘I Declare War’ prayer and praise service. In that service, we brought our petitions before God. We prayed for breakthroughs and prayed against the attacks of the enemy. We worshipped and danced before our God, and claimed that Victory was ours. It will undoubtedly go down as one of the most powerful services in Fresh Wind’s history.
Now, as we stand at the door of year-8, we expect to experience many great and new beginnings, as we remain committed to maturing our congregation, through practical bible teaching and strengthening our Christian fellowship.
With the Grace of God, faith in ‘His Word,’ and a firm commitment to obeying His every command, Fresh Wind Christian Church is excited and determined to continue walking out God’s calling, by equipping and empowering men and women to reach their potential in life and their destiny in God.
We declare, along with David, as recorded in Psalm 118:23-24:
“This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!”
